De Guzman & Co. presents: A special edition release of the DG014.
In line with our tradition of releasing special edition watches of our previous models, we decided to take the DG014 SE release with a bit of thought and meaning. Commemorating Araw Ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), we remember the sacrifices our Filipino soldiers endured during the Battle of Bataan in World War 2.
 
The dial is finished with a sunburst red dial. Signifying the color of war. The Philippine flag is usually used with the blue side up, but during times of war, red is raised to the top. Military watches traditionally have used matte colored dials in black, green, or tan, but the sunburst finish (representing the atrocities done during those time) and use of color in a field watch makes this a more compelling piece as a representation of war.
 
The lumed markers have been moved to the edges and now feature Baybayin scripts on the 3:00, 6:00, and the 9:00. A nod to military/explorer style watches, but with a strong influence of our Filipino culture and heritage.
 
The dial additionally has been sectored (i.e. split with a crosshair) to aid in legibility due to its military influence. The texts at the bottom middle of the dial of the original DG014 has been replaced with a Baybayin "Ka" script which was present at the bottom of the dial of the original model. The Ka symbol has been used as a symbol of revolution and change, signifying further the watch's nontraditional use of red and its symbolism as a watch of war.
